Blog 7: When Work As a Group
Blog 7 how to work efficiently in a team
In our daily life,we are often asked to work in a team, and sometimes we cannot finish a program ourselves. So,to some extent, the efficiency of the teamwork plays a decisive role in our career. For that reason, it is necessary for us to learn to work efficiently in a team.
When you and your teammates share with similar characters, you are very lucky. You can work efficiently with each other relatively easily. However, because that we are randomly divided into several groups, it is possible that the characters of members are totally different from each other in a team. When this happens, it will be a frustrating thing for each member of the group and also if not dealt properly, the teamwork will became low efficient. However,we have to confront this problem and actually,we have the ability to solve this.
So,how to solve it? In my opinion,at this time,we need to conform to the rules strictly. Because we are all friends, we cannot obey the rules strictly. We need to attend to other's personal feelings. We need to get along with others after the work. But when the characters of the members in one group are quite different, we must obey the rules strictly, for the sake of efficiency. It means that we need to have a specific hierarchy. The leader of the group is supposed to organize the work coherently. He or she should give members specific works so all the members need to do is the given work. If they have any idea, they should talk with the leader personally but not talk with other members. Whether the leader will take the ideas is the leader's right. The members are not expected to interfere.
I think everyone can understand this kind of action. It is good for a group to work efficiently.

It`s quite impossible to have a team made up of members with the same interests and opinions. This is when EQ comes in. We must learn to acoomodate , to control our emotions and also manage the emotions of others. There may be a few who have very strong opinions and try to impose them on the others in the team. Thus the leader has to be very decisive in the the final outcome. Teamwork is never easy and we need to keep the channels open in order to work effectively. I agree with you that the leader must lay down some ground rules and the members must respect these rules. The team leader must be firm on the decision reached. Members of the team must also not be so rigid in their thinking. There should be some flexibility to accomodate other members` opinions. Success is not always about IQ. Team members must be able to manage the emotions of others to prevent or resolve conflicts. They all want to reach the same goals--to finish the project well--thus they must engage in constructive decision-making.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. In this competitive society, although, the self-development is very important, we also need to learn how to cooperate with others. After all, as the development of technology, more and more things indeed require teamwork. I think, a good teammate should know how to respect others and how to listen to others’ suggestions patiently. In addition, sometimes, we should ponder a question at others’ position. We are not supposed to deny an idea merely because it runs counter to our own commonsense. Everyone has his unique ways of thinking, so the mutual respect is quite necessary.
