This is my last blog in the bridging course. Although I want to follow the theme of this week, I find it will be a pity if I do not summarize my experiences of the months in Singapore. I think my meaningful summary is much better than a Chinglish poem—the theme of this week. Let me recall the days in Singapore…

I have spent a large part of my time in photography. I did not really get interested in photography before I came to Singapore. I even did not know how to make my camera function in a way I wanted, let alone express what I felt in the pictures. All my knowledge of photography is quite plain, and I was a seeker of beautiful places, for I thought only splendid sceneries deserved a shot. However, then I realized that I should not owe my bad pictures to the reason that the scenery was not beautiful enough, but for the fact that I did not have sharp eyes to appreciate beauty. In fact, beauty is everywhere, as long as I can distinguish by my eyes. This gives me a bright inspiration in my way of thinking—if I change a way to look, I will get a better view.

My classmates and hostel mates are all very kind to me, so I do not ever feel lonely in this unfamiliar country. Apart from my classmates and hostel mates, I also know a lot of local friends from VCF and churches. They are very hospitable and humorous. They give me full confidence to have an enjoyable living here. Learning from their great characteristics, I also desire to be a person of better personality, so I now try to read bible and believe God. Before I came to Singapore, I was a freethinker. Now I think I will be a Christian in the future. This is one of the biggest changes of myself here.

As for my study, although I always make grammatical mistakes and mess up my expressions, I feel elation that I have made some improvements. I know how to compose an essay, how to make ppt, how to prepare for a debate…Before I came here, I dare not speak out English, but now communicating in English is not as difficult as it was before, more importantly, I have a desire to practice more; this is the reason why I always want to be the first people to read in the class when my teachers ask who wants to read first. In addition, one thing I must mention is that I have successfully finished reading a book in English--<<Harry Potter>>. This may not be a great achievement for others, but at least for me, it was a milestone. Now I proceed to try on more English written books.

Living in Singapore has greatly widened my horizons. I am getting accustomed to a new lifystyle. I have been greatly inspired by the academic ambience in NUS. I wonder how great I will feel when I graduate in this top university. The future is bright for me, as long as I enjoy every moment that I live in a positive way.
