Blog 3:Trust the Internet or not

Up to now, I still have not had entire faith in the Internet. It results from several deceptions that my relatives and families have ever encountered. For instance, once my aunt wanted to buy a blouse from the Internet. Unfortunately, several months after she had paid, she received nothing but a package, which she afterwards found it stuffed with waste cloth. Furthermore, my father used to tell me: “You can believe anything but that on the Internet.” He thought that as the Internet itself was a virtual product, that on the Internet must be unreal and meaningless, too. I admit that he is kind of assertive; however, I agree with him to some extent.

Take loves on the Internet for example. I believe that it is hard to find my special one on the Internet, for each pieces of information including the photo can be artificial. You may think that I am conservative but I still insist that how can I get interested in a person without knowing the truth about her. As I consider, true love is based on the integrity- in other words, both sides should not have anything to conceal unless it is better to tell white lies.

Once the two people have known each other, they want to express their loves to each other on the Internet. Some people choose to send virtual gifts like roses, cakes, even Benzes and Lamborghinis. However, in my opinion, these virtual gifts are not better than a written letter filled with love because they are not things produce with one’s own effort. Although a letter is just a piece of paper which is not that valuable, it did show one’s love for another person because of every affectionate sentence he or she writes. As for virtual gifts, what they cost you are just several clicks of your mouse; do you think that a simple click of your mouse can stand for your thick love for your beloved?

Of course, we cannot deny that the Internet has made unprecedented progress in enhancing the quality of our life, but at times I still prefer the old-fashion way. New things are not always good while old things are not always bad, as I consider.

  2. I can always learn a lot from your blog, especially many new words. I agree with you to a certain extent that we can't easily trust the Internet. However, I prefer to trust the one I encounter, even it is on the cyberspace. Though we may be deceived, we can feel relaxed and happy when we trust a person. That is exactly what makes the world become more harmonious. Nevertheless, it doesn't mean we don't need to be cautious and discerning when surfing the Internet. After all, being cheated is really something unpleasant!

  3. I can`t agree with you more,Junji. Well said.I also do not trust what I read on the Internet. Nowadays, people can post so many things on the Net that may or may not be true. Writing a letter is definitely more personal than sending it by email. However the Internet has its uses and we cannot just flippantly dismiss its advantages.

  4. I agree with you on the views of the Internet. There are many deceptions on the Internet and we should not trust it blindly. It is good to be wiser when using the Internet. However, I have to mention that the situation in Singapore is quite different from that in China. Therefore, I dared to buy a mobile phone through the Internet here. As for using Internet for romance, I agree with you totally. I don’t think that we can express our love to our beloved ones on the Internet effectively, and I’m sure that I will not even try it!

  5. I agree that there are many deceptions and wrong information on the Internet.Although at first the person may be just joking, information spreader quickly on the Internet. Soon many people know about it and take it seriously. That is why we get the fake news such as the death of Vitas. Therefore I think we should give a second thought when we are viewing the news on the Internet.

  6. It is an interesting thing to surf the Internet because we can read so many different reports about one event. Chinese people stand for China while Japanese may have a totally opposite view. That is a normal thing because we do not have to take responsibility when talking in the virtual world, so everyone will choose the opinion that benefit them best. The Internet contains so many different things so i do not think it is a proper way to say whether we can trust it or not. Get information as much as possible and take what seems useful to you, and you can take advantage of Internet perfectly.

  7. Internet helps you get more information. So it is natural that something is wrong. The information you get from others can also be wrong. The things you hear by yourself can also be wrong, but the things you get by yourself is much less than that you get by internet,so it seens that the Internet gives you more wrong things.

  8. I partly agree with your opinion, though the Internet may tell us something bad and wrong, but it really bring convenience to us.It's not very practical to always send your friends paper letter rather than e-mail.Our society is in the process of developing technology,so there must be some evolvement. We can benefit much from the Internet as long as we take advantage of it well. All in all, thank you for sharing your opinions with me.
