blog1:something about American education and Chinese education.

I have many friends who study in American high schools.Their school lives are so different from mine.Compared with theirs,I find my high school life so toneless and full of assignments. When I'm tring hard to work out a difficult math problem that I may never see again,my friends are busy preparing for their drama performance or music show. Many facts show that they have more time doing what they like and transforming their interests to specialities.

Actually,we can't deny that Chinese students also have a colorful extracurricular life.Take mine for example,in my senior high school,we have 78 associations of many kinds for students to relax and improve their social skills. However, the heavy pressure that Chinese students should face make it impossible for us to run the associations as well and professionally as American contemporaries do.

I think all these come from different education conceptions and social environments of the two countries.American education pays more attention to students' characteristics and wants to maximise their potential.Chinese people believe that graduates from good universities can surely find better jobs. This kind of thought causes Chinese schools focus too much on students' examination results.

Nevertheless, this doesn't mean American education method is superior to Chinese counterpart. In fact, there are so many shortcomings of it.For instance,America has one of the highest dropout rates in the industrialized world.Every 26 seconds, there is one kid dropping out of high school in the USA.(from:)Moreover, ignorance in the United States is not just bliss,it's widespread. There are many survey results support that and we can easily find them on the Internet.

Above all,I think we can come to a conclution that there is no such thing as the best way to teach adolescents. However,as the nation's future may depend on how well we educate the current and future generations, every country should continue seeking the most appropriate way for education.

  1. I agree with you that Chinese students do have a hard time studying senior high courses, especially in those education-developed provinces. It's our destiny;however, we learn something that American students may not touch until they engage in undergraduate course. To a certain extent, we gain. As is stated in the blog, there isn't any perfect way of education in fact but we can continuously improve it. Thank you for sharing your views with us.

  2. Your opinion on American education and Chinese education is very deep . Different cultures lead to different education style . Maybe due to the large population in China , there won't be much change . The future is ours . And wish all of us can create a bright future .(*^__^*) ....

  3. I agree with you.The education of every country has its limitation.Every country should do the best to make the policy which is the most suitable to the real conditions of the society.I think Chinese education can not catches the steps of its economy.Educaion should attach more importance on the students' abilities of practice and creativity.

  4. I think your analysis is reasonable. There is no doubt that our Chinese students may have a very hard time before we are enrolled by universities. But thinking from opposite angle.I think we also benefit a lot from this educational system. We get to know how to live happily under the pressure,we may face many challenges, and they force us to overcome them by ourselves.I know Chinese educational system has many shortcomings. But every coin has two sides, just as Haoyan said, the USA'education also has many problems,so we should not always criticize our hometown's education.

  6. After reading this blog, I think I agree with you especially on the last paragraph. It is true that we Chinese focus more on educating the students to help them get good marks, while the Americans tend to develop their creativity and innovation ability. And maybe this is why there is still no Nobel Prize Winner in China. However, just as you have pointed out, both these two styles have their pros and cons, and it is hard to say which one is better. If we want to find out how to educate students efficiently, we still have to do more efforts.

  7. I would like to tell you that you don`t need to have such a wide spacing between your paragraghs.
Good observations on the different education systems. There is no perfect system, but each system has its good points as you`ve rightly pointed out. I agree that Asians tend to emphasise too much on results at the expense of creativity and innovation. The outcome of such a system can be seen in the people who have gone through the systam. With the majority, good results mainly show that they have developed the skill of studying. We need to learn all the time, not just study. We need to apply what we have learnt and be able to adapt to new circumstances. We also need to learn social and communication skills. This is what education is really all about.
Your classmates have made some good comments.

  8. I think your opinions are pretty great and objective. And i can also feel the depth of your thinking. By the way, i do have some sympathy with you and i agree with you in most sentences you wrote, especially the last paragraph. I think all countries should learn something from others' education systems and improve their own systems. Otherwise, the future of the country will not be bright.
