I first touched English in my primary school, when I just like other kids have a strong curiosity in this new kind of language. Maybe at that time, English is the most popular subject with all of us, for the reason that we learned many practical skills which is related to our daily life closely, like how to greet others, how to count from 1 to 10 and so on. And we even cannot wait to show off all these new things we have learnt in school to our parents at once to get credit for the efforts.
However, when I moved into the middle school, things seem to get changed, while I started to realize that English is not just about greeting people in some specific sentences. But we were supposed to read and recite numerous materials which are either complicated or impractical. Besides, the English grammar of which I cannot even found any sense confused me a lot. However, under the enormous pressure of the English examination, we have to push ourselves strongly to learn it rather than regard it as an interest anymore. That is just like a nightmare.
When we entered our high school, since all of our courses get harder and harder, we even did not have adequate time spent in learning English. Fortunately, our English teacher changed our attitude towards learning English completely. He is so logical and smart that he managed to let us fall in love with grammar. Not until he started teaching us English grammar did I found how amazing it is that grammar makes this language logical and well-organized, which absolutely adding much courage and confidence to me. Besides, he let our system of English learning shift from being driven by the heavy strain to studying on our own initiative. For example, he would play some English movies and songs which are so attractive that we would try our best to recite the lines and the lyrics actively. Thanks to him, now I can study English with a great passion.
Gradually, I found that it is not the content but the methods of learning English that value. On the way of learning English, I really gained a lot.
